First day of March!
Not February 29th 😀 It’s been a crazy 12 months since we first closed in-store. A lot has changed, and we are all adjusting and learning in the store and beyond. Personally, we’ve been trying to convince or sign up vaccine appointments for our parents, and thanks to the recent change in PPP loan rules, we can finally apply! This past month, we’ve worked on two big videos. One is on Sailor line width comparison and the other one is a feature on MU print-on stickers. We’ve been working on updating many color guides as well, and as always, we...

Raden/螺鈿
Raden/螺鈿. The making of Raden technique involves the placement of hand-carved and hand-laid abalone shells into carved materials. The earliest Raden technique was found around 1000 BC in China during the Western Zhou dynasty. Traditionally, pearl shells were used as currency in China. In many Chinese characters that represent money today such as “財”(money), “購”(buy), “貪” (greed), the common root is the word “貝” (shell). When using shells as currency became obsolete, the symbol of wealth still remained. Traditionally and even today, in China, Japan and across many East Asian cultures, Raden techniques have been applied to many objects such as furniture, plates, music...

For February, we are already starting off busy by adding Hobonichi April Start planners to our site, and getting ourselves prepared for three upcoming projects we are putting together for March. We also made two fun YouTube videos, and we plan to continue making more of these two types of videos throughout the year: Catching Up With Yoseka: where we catch up on shop updates...
