Many Midori planners arrived yesterday and we will have more coming to our shop in the next few weeks. Thought it would be fun to share some of the planners that I’ve been using this year, since the newly arrived planners are actually what I have been using a lot this year! Midori Minimal Diary Monthly — for my monthly planning, appointments, tracking friend’s birthdays and monthly goals. Midori Diary A5 — for my daily todo lists. Traveler’s Notebook — for daily journaling. I love to use FriXion pens and highlighters in my monthly planner since FriXion pens are erasable...

One of the tools we love to use at the shop is Dot Liner. Dot Liner is an adhesive tape roller and it was released in 2005 by Kokuyo. As you roll, the double-sided tape automatically rolls out and sticks to the surface. Since the tape is sticky on both sides, dispensing became a challenge when they first developed the idea. To solve this challenge, Kokuyo came up with dotted glue on the tape. If you look closely, the tiny blue glue dots are arranged with spacing in between. These dots not only make it easy to dispense right away,...

The final artist we want to share is Sen @vespa0714. Sen custom made two pens for our shop — a fountain pen and a glass nib fountain pen. When you walk to the center of our testing table, you see our Yoseka Notebook, and Sen’s Classic Fountain Pen and Classic Glass Nib Fountain Pen that he made for our shop. Sen’s pens are clean, artistic, unique, and their designs stand out (Click on his profile @vespa0714 to check more cool pens)
Sen hand crafts and designs each pen. His pens are an expression of years of craftsmanship with the finest materials. He specializes...

It was such a fun night of Traveler’s Notebook Meetup! We started from our shop at 6pm last night with drinks, snacks and stickers from Traveler’s Company We slowly made our way to Coffee Tossey two blocks away. At the coffee shop, we set up a table for weighing competition and a table with washi tapes, stamps, and other fun journalling accessories. Everyone hung out and shared their journals with each other. The weighing competition was held at 9pm and the winner is Andy @newyorkvialosangeles with his Traveler’s Notebook at 1.7 pound! Wow! Our next beloved artist is Becky @wellspringwrites. Becky has taught many calligraphy workshops at Yoseka. She lives right in Sunnyside, a short walk from the shop! Many of you already know Becky and may have taken one or two calligraphy workshops with Becky at Yoseka. Neil and I first contacted Becky to see if she would be interested in teaching some workshops using our space. We are forever grateful to Becky because she took a chance on our new little shop and partnered with us in making our long dreamt of workshops possible! Over the past year, we have gotten to...

Our next artist is Miwa. When you walk into our shop, Miwa’s works are right by the entrance. It’s hard not to notice the colorful ceramics and we love how her bright pieces add so much more to our shop. Miwa is a ceramics artist originally from Tokyo and now living in Sunnyside. She creates her art pieces just a few blocks away from us at Sculpture Space NYC. Each of her works is unique and an abstract mix of Japanese tradition and pop elements that she has found inspiration from while living in Japan, Ohio and now NYC (swipe right...

Thoka is the second artist this week who has been a great partner for us at Yoseka. We met Thoka at the shop and after chatting and participating in a couple of Yoseka happy hours together, got to know each other better and become friends! Thoka @thokamaer is an amazing illustrator and you can find her works featured on many publications like the New York Times, Medium, Buzzfeed and other brands too. She is so talented, smart and funny, and we’re so happy to have been able to meet her through the store. Earlier this year, she designed and hand drew our...

This past year, we’ve met many people through our shop. Neil and I are often amazed by how many people we’ve met. We appreciate everyone who occasionally stops by to chat with us, comes in just to say hello, or introduce out of town friends to us and the shop, and we’re grateful to have been connected to so many great people this year! On this week leading up to our one year anniversary, we’d like to share five artists who we’ve met though the shop. They have not only become a really important part of the store, but we...
