Many Midori planners arrived yesterday and we will have more coming to our shop in the next few weeks. Thought it would be fun to share some of the planners that I’ve been using this year, since the newly arrived planners are actually what I have been using a lot this year! One of the tools we love to use at the shop is Dot Liner. Dot Liner is an adhesive tape roller and it was released in 2005 by Kokuyo. As you roll, the double-sided tape automatically rolls out and sticks to the surface. Since the tape is sticky on both sides, dispensing became a challenge when they first developed the idea. To solve this challenge, Kokuyo came up with dotted glue on the tape. If you look closely, the tiny blue glue dots are arranged with spacing in between. It was such a fun night of Traveler’s Notebook Meetup! We started from our shop at 6pm last night with drinks, snacks and stickers from Traveler’s Company We slowly made our way to Coffee Tossey two blocks away. At the coffee shop, we set up a table for weighing competition and a table with washi tapes, stamps, and other fun journalling accessories. Everyone hung out and shared their journals with each other. The weighing competition was held at 9pm and the winner is Andy @newyorkvialosangeles with his Traveler’s Notebook at 1.7 pound! Wow! Our next beloved artist is Becky @wellspringwrites. Becky has taught many calligraphy workshops at Yoseka. She lives right in Sunnyside, a short walk from the shop! Many of you already know Becky and may have taken one or two calligraphy workshops with Becky at Yoseka. Neil and I first contacted Becky to see if she would be interested in teaching some workshops using our space. Our next artist is Miwa. When you walk into our shop, Miwa’s works are right by the entrance. It’s hard not to notice the colorful ceramics and we love how her bright pieces add so much more to our shop. Miwa is a ceramics artist originally from Tokyo and now living in Sunnyside. She creates her art pieces just a few blocks away from us at Sculpture Space NYC. Thoka is the second artist this week who has been a great partner for us at Yoseka. We met Thoka at the shop and after chatting and participating in a couple of Yoseka happy hours together, got to know each other better and become friends!
