Fonte Pen was first released in February 2019 in Japan by Nippon 日本出版販売株式会社 under the brand "Hmmm!?STATIONERY", now under Komamono Lab. It comes in clear body so that the color of the ink on the tip can be the focus; and the word "Fonte" comes from Italian word for "spring", with the image of ink gushing out from the nib just like a fountain. The pen gained popularity in Japan in 2019 as a starter fountain pen, and in 2022 Nippon released additional tip options such as brush, rollerball and glass nib for different ink users. The pen is a rebranded model of Jinhao 992 with a snap cap, and it's great for trying out different inks!

I’m new to glass nibs but I love the idea that this can be capped and carried with ease. The nib feels slightly scratchy but that may be due to my inexperience at finding the sweet spot for writing angle. Also, I will try smoothing it with some fine grit sandpaper.

A very lovely pen that makes a great first foray into dip pens! The nib is smooth and in my case put down an approximately 0.7 line, so it was medium fine. It holds more ink than I expected and it’s portability may put this simple and affordable dip pen a step above more expensive glass pens. It’s a great and unique addition to my stationery bag.

A Good Glass Pen

I like these glass pens and bought them for myself and two others.

I do recommend these glass pens.

They are not top shelf and they are not bottom shelf, just good for the price.

Glass pen arrived chipped. Can’t get the fountain pen to write either. I gave up on the products and put them to the side.
