Shiranami is a PLOTTER US Exclusive leather created for the Japan Blue Project, celebrating Japan's indigo dyeing tradition and the iconic artistry of Hokusai’s “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji.” Named after “white-crested waves,” Shiranami draws inspiration from the deep indigo hue used since the Asuka Period (710–794). Developed in collaboration with a historic tannery in Himeji, this leather is dyed with natural indigo and finished with a white wax bloom, symbolizing sea foam. Over time, the wax fades to reveal the rich indigo beneath, enhancing its character through use.
The leather’s untreated edges showcase the natural gradation of indigo dye, preserving the essence of traditional Aizome dyeing. Shiranami leather covers are available in the Bible size—the iconic standard for personal organizers. Compact and designed to fit comfortably in your palm, it offers easy access for writing and recording notes, while holding everything you need in one convenient place. Pair it with Bible-size Refill Memo Pads for a stylish, on-the-go creative companion.
