PLOTTER - Shiranami 6-Ring Leather Binder - A5 Size
Shiranami is a PLOTTER US Exclusive leather created for the Japan Blue Project, celebrating Japan's indigo dyeing tradition and the iconic artistry of Hokusai’s “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji.” Named after “white-crested waves,” Shiranami draws inspiration from the deep indigo hue used since the Asuka Period (710–794). Developed in collaboration with a historic tannery in Himeji, this leather is dyed with natural indigo and finished with a white wax bloom, symbolizing sea foam. Over time, the wax fades to reveal the rich indigo beneath, enhancing its character through use.
The leather’s untreated edges showcase the natural gradation of indigo dye, preserving the essence of traditional Aizome dyeing. Shiranami leather covers are available in the versatile A5 size—perfectly balanced for portability and ample writing space. Ideal for journaling, sketching, or organizing thoughts, it pairs seamlessly with A5 or A4 Refill Memo Pads to expand your workspace and spark creativity wherever you go.
Note: Due to the nature of indigo dye and the varying degree of dye penetration across different parts of the leather, color variations may be more visible on the underside in each batch. Please enjoy the unique character of Shiranami Leather and the natural beauty of indigo dye.
