Pilot Capless/Vanishing Point. In 1963, Pilot released the first ever retractable fountain pen. After clicking the push button, the nib slides forward and pushes the lid down. By clicking the push button again, the nib retracts and the lid springs up, shutting the gap air-tight to prevent the ink from drying out. The nib is slim to fit inside the pen, and it folds down to grab the feed tightly to handle the constant movements. The very first version of Capless was actually a much more complicated mechanism to twist and expose the nib — and it was a result of 6 years research. It’s also worth noting that after the war in Japan, the businesses were booming, and many brands were willing to invest in product developments. Many brands we mentioned before such as Midori (Dimond Memo), Radar (SEED eraser) and Sailor (first ballpoint, first ink cartridge and first 21K gold nib) all had some notable products around this time. Pilot, too, was busy. Aside from Capless, Elite and Custom Series were introduced, and the first 0.5mm ballpoint with stainless steel tip was introduced by Pilot as well. For the past 50 years, there has been 11 different generations of Capless.

I have a $1,200.00 visconti homosapien crystal dream and I've had to send it to coles of london 6 times because something was wrong with it, but the pilot vanishing point never gave me any issues and I got the vanishing point for $160.00 lol!
This is the number one reason I stay loyal to Japanese fountain pens, Japanese pens always work right out of the box and you get a high quality gold nib pen for a fraction of the cost of an Italian pen and the vanishing point has an 18k gold nib for less than $200.00! Kewl.
The vanishing point is worth the money and the black Matte color with the black 18k nib look so kewl and gothic that it makes me want to draw Beautiful women and write with it, awesome.
I was going through my collection and I found my Black matte and Red/Gold V.P.'s .
Both broad nibs, loaded'm up with yurameku 2nd edition zare black and hana red respectively and they both wrote sooooo Smoothly.
This black matte is so gorgeous and Deliciously Evil looking I love it.
I wanted to purchase a visconti dark crystal but I can't justify spending $1,000.00 right now so this black V.P. is an awesome substitute.
Made in Japan so it will work straight out of the box, 18k Gold nib, and its so Evil and kewl looking that even the 18k Gold nib is in Black to add to the resident evil/silent hill Gothic Vibe/Theme.
This pen is so cool and Dark that if I was in silent hill wandering the streets to the song Promise this is one of the 4 Evil silent hill pens I would have on my person.
4 kewl Evil/Dark pens to have/add to your collection: Black Matte vanishing point, visconti homosapien dark age/dark crystal, mont blanc rouge et noir fountain pen(Or any mont blanc that is black like the meisterstuck 145 in platinum, got mine on ebay for $250.00), any japanese black urushi pen(I have the namiki nippon art dragon cumulus).
Continue your calligraphy practice fellas!
