About Kakimori:
Located in downtown Tokyo, Japan, Kakimori boasts a deep connection with its neighborhood and customers. They value the importance of storytelling and the joy associated with handcrafted goods and handwriting. They emphasize a state of coexistence with the four major elements — air, water, earth, and soil — and employ these ideals in each of their products. Their flagship store is well known and loved for their custom fountain pen ink and custom notebook services, which lets customers mix and assemble their own unique tools for writing.
First time using these, and I am really enjoying it! Easy to use, super easy to clean. Perfect!
this bullet nib may seem a bit expensive compared to typical dip-pen nibs, but it's right in line with similar-quality bullet-style nibs. these bullet nibs hold far more ink than a typical dip nib and furthermore provide various surface orientations for adjustment of the thickness of the stroke.
this particular bullet nib is excellent -- it's voluminous, smooth, and the brass material is soft enough to express a bit of feedback in stroke pressure...clearly it does not produce nearly as much pressure-mediated line variation as a brush or even a flexible dip nib, but there is appreciable haptic feedback that feels appropriate to the trained hand.
i've only had this nib for a few days, but i'm enamoured with the feel of drawing with it, and i'm happy to finally have a high-volume dip nib that i can use for sketching out ideas in ink without having to re-wet the pen every other stroke.
This is a nice alternative to a glass dip pen but still a bit pricey. I like that this fits a standard size holder so I did not pair mine with a kakimori specific one.
It reakky pays to take the time to learn what this nib can do and how to use it.
Such a beautiful and unique way to use ink and experiment with ink properties. Not cheap, but I think it is worth it if you want to spend time appreciating the inks you own.
