Kakimori Pigment Inks
Japanese stationery companies Kakimori and Turner Color Co., Ltd. use rich, fine pigments and years of quality crafted experience to create these pigment-inks. These masterful inks have impressive water resistance and stand the test of time when written on paper. When used often, this ink is ideal for dip pens and fountain pens. The ink dries quickly and once completely dry, you can paint over the ink with watercolors, leaving the previously inked lines bleed-free.
Located in downtown Tokyo, Japan, Kakimori boasts a deep connection with the people of the town and its customers. They value the importance of storytelling and the joy associated with handcrafted goods and writing by hand. They value coexistence with the four major elements (Air, Water, Earth and Soil) and use these ideals to blend business and economy. They are well known and well loved for their fountain pen ink store where one can custom-mix ink colors.

This is a raw sienna hue and to my eyes had a slight coppery sheen when used on the Yoseka slim notebook I tried it with.
It’s got lovely shading properties and is properly waterproof. Like with most waterproof inks just be sure not to try water washes too quickly after you’ve used the inks. I’ve seen a lot of reviews online of waterproof inks (from many brands) where someone says the ink wasn’t waterproof but where it’s probably user error.
Usual pigmented ink pen care should be followed when using with this ink, although I reckon these rules are massively exaggerated. For most people and most pen use it’s absolutely fine.
I put this in my 2021 special edition Lamy (Terra) and it’s the perfect ink If you want a matching ink to the pen body colour - like I described with my Kakimori lichen/Safari Savannah combo in another of my reviews.
Make sure to give these bottles a good shake each and every time you ink up your pen for best results as the pigment sediments. That’s not unnatural or a chemical reaction taking place, it just means the pigment has sunk to the bottom of the bottle.
With the little sample bottles Yoseka supply you can easily see the sediment and you can see when you’ve done a good enough shake (a vigorous 10 second shake is fine).
This ink is a fine one for drawing and sketching and every day writing, and If you want your writing to last forever (like for letter writing) these inks are ideal.
Thanks for bringing these inks to the wider market Yoseka!
Shades beautifully. Handles water washes well without bleeding.
I put it in my Lamy Savannah (green) safari and it’s a prefect match for it - if you’d like to have a matching colour to the pen body colour then this would be it.
If you’re not used to pigmented inks, then just a word of caution; make sure you don’t leave it in your pen for long periods (more than about a fortnight) without using it, and be sure to flush it out of your pen thoroughly between inks and when storing away your pen. If you’re using a Platinum pen (which have slip and seal caps) then you have less to worry about.
This ink sample was packaged wonderfully with a layer of clear film over the mouth of the sample bottle (between the lid and the bottle) which was put there by the Yoseka team. It made the bottle completely leak proof.
The design of the bottle is cute and the handwritten label on the side was a nice hand-finished touch too!
