Why is the Stationery Community Obsessed with Clips?

You might have noticed that clips have been gaining a lot of popularity in the stationery community lately! These popular clips are not your usual paperclip, but usually refer to a binder or book clip. To learn how they're used, check out our new YouTube video where Daisy explores common uses and some fan favorite clips, or keep reading!

Uses For Clips

We found that there are four main reasons people use clips.

  1. Holding a book/notebook open: You might notice that when you journal, it's hard to keep the pages down while you write. People will often use clips at the top or sides of their notebook to create a flatter surface while they write!
  2. Containing loose papers and ephemera: If you like to carry thin notebooks, pieces of paper, or other small things around along with your usual journal setup, clips can be a great way to keep everything together! Secure your additional items to the inside or outside of your notebook, making sure everything is tucked into your clip.
  3. Securing a pencil board: Some people prefer a very flat surface when they write into their journals, which is why they'll introduce a pencil board. This stiff piece of plastic slides underneath the page you're writing on to make a flat surface, and can come in handy if your notebook has gotten bumpy through stickers, tape, and other inserts. Use a clip to keep the pencil board stable as you write!
  4. As a cute accessory: How could we not? With new cute clips coming out all the time, they've become another way to showcase your personality through your journal.
