This Cosmo Notebook by Japanese company, Yamamoto Paper boasts having the best "fountain pen friendly paper". Each notebook contains 176 pages of Cosmo Air Light paper, soft-to-the-touch sheets first introduced at the 2019 San Francisco Pen Show. Though this paper has slightly longer than usual drying times, its matte-like texture holds ink well and displays ink color and sheen beautifully. Included is a sturdy double-sided underlay, with 12mm rule and 6mm grid. The binding allows the notebook to lay flat and better enhance your writing experience.

About Yamamoto Paper:
Founded in 1972, Yamamoto Paper started as a paper wholesaler and in 2005, they started manufacturing their own papers. Their line of paper products focus on highlighting the differences between distinct papers. From color to texture to weight, Yamamoto Paper puts paper at the forefront and using different ways of processing and printing paper, their products including their Paper Tasting packs, loose sheets and notebooks encourage users to compare and contrast between papers.
When I first tried the paper in this notebook, I was amazed. It's not enough to say it's buttery-smooth. When you write with a fountain pen, it feels like you push a nib into something very soft and malleable. You feel resistance, but it's actually very satisfying. However, my love for this paper was obscured right at the end of the first page. The problem with this paper is that it doesn't like skin oils at all. If your hands are not clean and dry enough, you will have a hard time writing at those places where your hand lied.
I've never had this issue with any other notebook before. To mitigate this, I had to buy gloves for working with tablets, and this notebook immediately became my 'at home' one. Probably, you won't have the same issue with rollerballs or ballpoints.
It's a shame this paper behaves like that. I won't buy these notebooks anymore because of this problem, but apart from that, this is the best paper I've ever tried.
I love this notebook it lies flat and has amazing quality paper super soft and perfect for fountain pens 🙂
