Vinta Inks - Archives From the Metro - Golden Hour (Quiapo, 1988) - 15 mL
1988 in Quiapo was a year of intense devotional energy and street-level soul. This ink captures the district at its most transformative moment: the golden hour. As the sun dips low, it sets the dome of the Masjid Al-Dahab (Golden Mosque) ablaze and casts long, dramatic shadows across the sea of devotees gathered before the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene. The light filters through a thick veil of city haze and incense smoke, turning the humid air into suspended liquid gold against the church's cream-colored Mexican Baroque façade. It is a tribute to the "King of the Road"—the stainless steel jeepneys reflecting the amber sky—and the weathered brass anting-anting (amulets) that glow with a mysterious green patina in the fading light.
This ink has a deep, saturated ochre-orange base with intense shading that mimics a burnt mustard sunset, topped with a mild green sheen that reflects the aged patina of sacred bronzeware.
