The Superior Labor - All Leather Engineer Pouch
Originally intended to be the Engineer Key Case—a miniature version of the engineer bag—this design was accidentally made larger than initially planned. The oversized result proved too charming to discard, evolving into a soft, plump leather pouch that's both practical and fun to carry. Compact yet surprisingly spacious, it can hold paperback books, A6-sized notebooks, and other everyday essentials.
Crafted from Japanese glove leather, it combines durability, flexibility, and lightweight comfort. Originally developed for baseball gloves, this leather is highly resistant to friction and becomes softer and more comfortable with use. The leather is core-dyed for rich, lasting color and finished with a special oil treatment that gives it a smooth, supple feel and a light, elastic texture.

About The Superior Labor: Founded by former auto mechanic and leather artisan Makoto Kawai, this lifestyle brand crafts a variety of high-quality everyday tools that promote slow and intentional living. Kawai considers The Superior Labor as a natural extension of his experience working with cars, crafting leather goods, traveling, and curating vintage wares. All of The Superior Labor’s design and manufacturing takes place in a former elementary school campus in the rural and mountainous area of Kaga-gun, Okayama Prefecture, where Kawai lives and works. Called “nap village,” it welcomes visitors to come and experience The Superior Labor’s living and crafting philosophy while exploring the wonderful nature of Mount Hongu.
