Winner of a Good Design Award in 2017, the Take A Note planner made its debut in 2015 and embraces a minimalist design philosophy that gives users the freedom to do what they wish with this planner while supporting them with well-designed backbone yearly, monthly, weekly and daily layouts.
Weekly Plan (Mini Weekly Calendar + Two Days Per Page)
While this planner comes with yearly, monthly, weekly and daily views, most of the pages of the planner fall into the "mini weekly calendar + two days per page vertical timeline" layout, which is an original feature of Take A Note. This layout allows you to view the week at a glance while also jotting down to-dos and events relevant to your specific day. Each day includes a 24 hour vertical timeline with blank grids at the top and bottom of the timeline; this section also includes features such as a mini weekly calendar and moon phases for each day.
Vertical Yearly Plan
The vertical yearly plan gives you an overall view for your half-year itinerary. The vertical planner can be helpful for planning long-term projects that span over months, as well as a habit tracking table. Extra spacing are added at the bottom of this section to provide more space for notes.
Calendar and Yearly Gantt Chart
In Take A Note's first few pages, you will see the annual calendar and the yearly Gantt chart. The annual view spans September 2025 to April 2027, making it a great tool for estimating the schedule of a project, and the unique yearly Gantt chart allows users to make note of important holidays, events, exams, and reminders from a yearly view so you can easily glance at the yearly view and remember an anniversary, for example. The boxes are also ideal for habit tracking.
Monthly Plan
Take A Note's monthly view comes with ample grid space surrounding the monthly calendar. These can be divided into different sections for different months such as monthly tasks and goals. The monthly view spans December 2025 to March 2027.
- New for 2026: In the vertical timeline, the highlighted block for lunch break (12:00–1:00) has been removed. Instead, a subtle line now marks 12:00 noon. This adjustment makes the timeline more flexible and better suited for users with different daily routines.

absolutely love it! Looking forward to the new year so I can start using it!
I've tried undated bullet journals, the Hobonichi Cousin, and the Kokuyo Jibun Techo (Regular and Days) in the past. The Take-a-Note A5 is the perfect balance for me at the moment! I don't need a full page per day for planning, but all 7 days squeezed into one spread is too little space for my larger handwriting, so I like that this book splits the week among two spreads. I also love that the hour markings cover the full 24 hours (especially as a late sleeper) and provide 2 lines per hour for 30 minute increments. Excellent paper quality that works with many kinds of pens, and sewn binding that opens flat on every page.
Have been a loyal TAN user since the beginning.
My favorite planner brand of all. So simple and perfect designed for my needs.
