The Spring 2021 Limited ink from Ink Institute is inspired and named after the traditional Chinese snack of 冰糖葫蘆 (Tanghulu). Tanghulu is the name for candied fruit served and sold on skewers by street vendors in China and Taiwan. They come in a glistening hardened sugared coating similar to candied apples and most often, the fruits that are candied are a bright red Chinese wild fruit called hawthorns and also strawberries. Walking along the streets of markets in parts of China and Taiwan, it is not unusual to see these sparkling skewers of bright red candied hawthorn fruits called tanghulu.
Appropriately, the label on this bottle of ink features a brush illustration of tanghulu on a traditional red spring couplet paper. These couplets can be seen all around during the Chinese New Year and when spring is being welcomed.

Ink Institute is a line of inks made by the Taiwanese stationery store, Juspirit in Taipei. They produce inks that are easy to clean and beautiful on paper. We love their ink collections which include a tribute to the Taipei Metro subway line, Exotic Plants of Taiwan and the super fun Cat Daily collection.
This is a really wonderful ink! I bought it on a whim and wound up absolutely loving it. Beautiful red color with a slight sheen; perfect for springtime. I'm actually kind of sad that this is a limited edition as I don't want to run out!
I love this ink, I wasn’t going to get it but kept thinking about it! So glad I decided to buy it, such a beautiful color. Ink Institute makes such amazing and fun inks! Thank you always Yoseka! 💕
