The Diamond Mini comes with a benchmark piston ink-filling mechanism. It's clear and comes with all detachable parts. The pen is very nicely made. It feels solid and of high quality. The nib is smooth with a little feedback.
It's roughly the same height as an iPhone when capped, and it's roughly 1 inch shorter than a Diamond 580 fountain pen.
About TWSBI:
TWSBI 三文堂 (San Wen Tong) is one of our earliest collection even before the store. TWSBI started as an OEM manufacturer for different western brands, and around 2009, they decided to start their own brand. With 50 years of experience in pen making, they took to fountain pen forums and gather users’ feedback. It was said that Pelican M800 was the model they were inspired. Most of their pens are transparent, so it’s really fun to see the ink color and it lasts for a very long time.
The name 三文堂 (San Wen Tong) comes from the Hall of the Three Rare Treasures, created by Emperor Qianlong as a memorial to three great masterpieces of Chinese calligraphy. The initials of the name “San Wen Tong” was reversed and thus turned into "TWS". The last letters "Bi" was added with its literal meaning of "writing instruments" in Chinese. Thus combining the two segments, creating TWSBI.
Perfect FP for me 🥰
I shopped around for a month to decide which "mini" fountain pen to buy and I was also intrigued about getting a piston-filler, as I have not used one before. Once settling on the TWSBI Diamond Mini, I looked for the most competitive pricing and Yoseka Stationery fit the bill. I had accidentally made a duplicate purchase and contacted the team immediately - they sorted out the order in no time and were very responsive to my emails. The pen arrived quickly and there was a delightful company update card and message included with the pen; I thought that was a nice touch. I have really enjoyed every aspect of the pen - the filling was a cinch and it writes very smoothly on all my paper surfaces. I particularly enjoy being able to see the ink through the translucent barrel. It is very comfortable to hold, provided I position the clip on the same side of the pen as the smooth side of the nib (opposite the feed). My one caution if this is your first TWSBI, as it was mine, is that there are very handy tools and a small silicon gel container included on the underside of the pen box and those should be retained to be able to disassemble and reassemble the pen. I have the pen inked up with Pilot iroshizuku ama-iro and it writes beautifully. The extra fine nib line is comparable in width to my Pilot Decimo fine nib.
This pen is everything!! Love it!!
I entered the shop expecting to buy a diamond 580 twsbi pen. When I was trying it out, I saw the TWSBI mini there and decided to give it a go. It instantly seduced me. The nib is smooth with a tiny touch of feedback which I love. The grip is girthy 11mm diameter. And the weight is much better balanced and lighter than the 580. Lastly, this pen posts, unlike the 580. I've had mine for about 1 month and it has been working wonderfully for me. I recommend this highly underrated pen.
