Yohaku Washi Tape - Sonata
"I’ve loved music since I was young, always interested in playing instruments though I never had the chance to take lessons. When I entered the working world, I decided to start learning the violin on my own, and playing as an adult was such fun—I became completely absorbed. Its beautiful form and mysterious tone drew me in, though the violin can also be a cruel instrument; in Israel, known as the “land of strings,” there’s a saying that to truly play the violin well, one must have been playing since a previous life. It’s often said you must start at age three, and beginning as an adult, there was no way to reach that world I had always admired. Still, I enjoyed playing and came to enjoy listening as well. In Sapporo, the PMF music festival is held each July, and I went to the concert hall several times a week, sometimes even hearing the concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic perform right in front of me—it was a month filled with music, such a luxury in retrospect. I listened to orchestras too, but my favorite performances were always solo recitals.
Brahms’ Violin Sonatas are my favorite, and I longed to play a sonata myself; their sound rings out with miraculous beauty, deeply moving me with the genius of their creation. The interplay of violin and piano, their light and graceful harmonies… This design is calm and gentle, but it has become my favorite among my recent works." - by creator Yohaku
