New as of November 1st, 2023 is the English Edition of the Hobonichi Original. Keeping the colorful format of the beloved Original layout, the English Edition simply swaps out the original Japanese date notation for English ones. The quotes at the bottom of the page has been swapped for English as well.

This original form of the Hobonichi Techo has been loved by many users since its introduction in 2002. Its daily pages offer plenty of space to fill despite the book’s compact A6 size. The graph paper offers an open layout for you to neatly lay out writings, clippings, and drawings. After years of testing, the graph paper has been set to 3.7 mm for optimal writing comfort, and the lines have been printed in light colors so users can either customize it to their own layout or ignore it completely.

The book contains several sections that are great for schedule management, such as a yearly calendar, monthly calendar, and yearly index page.

The back of the book includes useful and informational pages, such as blank memo pages, an address book, a page for drawing out a custom graph, a 100-item list, and more.

Note: For the 2026 lineup, A6, A5, and 5-Year Covers will only be available as part of a set with their corresponding planner books. Covers will not be sold separately.

A blank two-page spread is featured at the very beginning of the book to provide a free area when starting out the book.
A page is included at the beginning of each month to help in planning ahead.
All daily pages include daily quotes.
One Day Per Page: The planner features a format with a page devoted to each day. There’s lots of open space to plan the day ahead and enjoy recording your memories and activities. Think of the pages as containers for random ideas, with a clear record of the date. A6 let's you take your life everywhere

If you're living in New York space is everything, especially when it comes to the bag you carry.

I carry my A6 with me all the time and it's a great size to keep track of my day to day activities for work as well as my personal life. Also, I have the cover to keep the book protected from whatever else is in my bag. I recommend it. The cover will add to the size of the book, but the additional card storage is invaluable as well as two pen loops, and two ribbon book marks.

The size of the A6 is a great match for people that want to keep track of special moments in their life while still being able to add detail. I have never owned the A5, although I would enjoy how much space it has for writing, I don't think I would fill it up on a daily basis the way I do with the A6.

If you're looking for a compact daily planner to carry around, the A6 Hobonichi is a wonderful option to consider.

I use a Kaweco Perkeo fountain pen and a Uniball One pen. I think the Uniball One pen is best for this type of planner. Even though I can see the fountain pen through the page I still use it and doesn't bother me.

This is my 2nd year with Hobonichi and I'm looking forward to recording all my experiences in 2026.

If you're looking for the Hobonichi planner's at Yoseka they are in the far corner of the shop neatly displayed on a bookshelf. For now, I like the A6 daily planner, but one day the 5 year might become my go to.
