The Falcon is an extraordinary fountain pen for a personalized writing experience. The 14-karat gold nib is designed to be semi-flexible to yield to the user's writing pressure and angle. The Metal Falcon has a slightly larger barrel than the resin version and is also slightly heavier due to the lacquered metal body.

Metal > Resin

This is my second time purchasing the Pilot Metal Falcon. My first was an SEF which I felt was too fine with too much feedback for my liking. After selling it I found myself really missing this pen. In my opinion, the weight, balance, and section are perfect for my grip. It is one of the most comfortable pens in my collection. After realizing this I had to add it back to my collection, though moving up to the SF. This is my sweet spot. The nib is perfectly precise while still producing the quintessential Pilot smooth line. This is a top 5 pen in my collection and I am so happy to have it back in my rotation. Down the road I could see myself adding yet another to my line up so I can have two inked up with different inks at once.

Many may want to go for the less expensive resin version and that may be right up your alley. However, know that that metal offers room for the far superior CON-70 converter. And in general the weight and feel of the material on the metal is much more substantial and luxurious.
