Since its launch in 2007, Platinum's Preppy fountain pen has become one of the most popular entry level fountain pens available today with 10 million pens sold worldwide! It's easy to see why this is a popular choice as a first fountain pen for so many. With its approachable, friendly and colorful design, and Platinum's own "Slip and Seal Mechanism" that employs a spring in the cap to force an air tight closure around the nib, thus preventing ink from drying out in this fountain pen for up to a year, this pen is a logical choice for students and for anyone who might be curious about fountain pens but worried about having to deal with fountain pen maintenance. Preppy is easy to write with, comfortable to hold and low pressure for a first time fountain pen user.
The 和Wa edition features traditional Japanese patterns and each pattern carries its own auspicious symbol.
Ogi Chirashi/扇ちらし

From this series I only purchased the Shaayagata. The other wa editions are nice and a mixed bag in regards to writing experience, but the one pen from this edition wrote nicely. Wrote nicely. Travels well. Lovely design. It's a lot of fun to use with their ink converter to use an ink other than standard black.
It's very affordable and it has nice designs. A good starter pen!
It's hard to believe that such a lovely fountain pen, only less than $8, can work so well. It is my "everyday use" one and I carry it almost everywhere. Such a must-have for any starters!
I got the Reishiun (blue) one and was actually really really surprised to see how nicely it writes despite its price. The highlight for me is definitely the snap cap, because it never has a dry start. It is always ready to write. My only gripe would be that the Platinum black ink cartridges that come with it isn't the most pigmented in comparison to other black inks. But that's more of an ink issue rather than a pen issue. Still works really well
My first fountain pen was a pink Platinum preppy and I loved it so much I got a Platinum Shooting Star Preppy, so I'm pleasantly surprised that they came out with a Sakura pink version. I just love this pen, it's no fuss, it always writes and stays writeable (because of the slip cap), it has a snap cap and it's a very low price, so I'm not as anxious about this pen than I would for my other fountain pen.
This is my very first fountain pen and I really love how fine it writes. I was looking for an inexpensive, low-stakes entry into the world of fountain pens and the limited edition design is a charming bonus.
