The Kokuyo JIBUN_TECHO First Kit is a versatile planner that features distinctive layouts designed to make daily planning effortless. The First Kit edition contains three refills: a dated Diary, LIFE booklet, and an IDEA booklet, making it perfect for those who are new to the JIBUN_TECHO setup. 2025 marks the first year we add the JIBUN_TECHO to our planner lineup!
The Diary Booklet includes dated vertical, monthly, and gantt chart layouts. The LIFE Booklet focuses on layouts dedicated to recording life events including anniversaries, birthdays, and other special events. Its purpose is to contain all your personal information in one place so you don't have to transfer it to a new book year after year. The IDEA Booklet is a gridded notebook with a single-line margin design meant to capture any ideas that have overflowed from your planner. Once filled up, the booklets can be swapped out for new refills so that you can hang on to the same Techo Cover for many years.
This JIBUN_TECHO Standard features THIN paper crafted exclusively for JIBUN_TECHO, and strikes the perfect balance between thinness and durability. It stands resilient against warping, even after erasing ballpoint ink. Enjoy a smooth writing experience with minimal show-through, merging both portability and exceptional writability seamlessly.

- Monthly Schedule: The calendar block offers a panoramic view of the entire month, including the previous month's end for seamless readability, even if the month begins mid-week. This calendar spans until March of the following year, providing continuity for your planning.
- Monthly Project: Track two consecutive months at once with this layout, ideal for managing projects. Use the subdivisions on the left to visualize progress effortlessly or to chart metrics like weight or stock prices.
- Weekly Schedule: Featuring a balanced 24-hour vertical layout for both weekdays and weekends, this section helps you keep a clear record of your daily activities.
- My Dream for This Year: Capture your annual goals in one place, rather than breaking them down monthly. The subdivided goals section helps you brainstorm and plan effectively. There's also an age chart on the left for quick reference.
- Money Plan: Keep a close eye on your monthly spending with this dedicated section. It’s designed to help you track your expenses precisely, with customizable areas for additional notes.
- Looking Back on This Year: The perfect spot to summarize and reflect on all the moments and achievements you’ve captured in your JIBUN_TECHO this year.
LIFE Book Features
- 100 Wishes List: List 100 things you'd like to try at least once. This helps you rethink your whole approach to life. Feel free to write whatever you like, from the most serious things to the most trivial.
- List of Anniversaries: The more anniversaries you have, the richer your life will be. This section is also handy for noting down warranty expiration dates for household appliances. We’ve also listed some quirky anniversaries that make fun conversation-starters.
- Map of Japan/The World: Map the places you’ve traveled to and lived in! It’s handy for logging dates, locations, companions and so on. You can also note down places you’d like to visit.
IDEA Book Features
- Gridded Notebook: Contains 40 sheets with a 3mm grid and margin line. For easy organization, write all indexing data (dates, titles, themes) to the left of the margin line, and keep all notes taken to the right of the margin line.

Best 3-in-1 planner! I like the layouts in the planner; helps sort personal (red ink) from business (blue ink). The IDEA booklet is great for overflow, client history, recipes, service dog health records (all separate booklets). The LIFE booklet is extremely helpful for me to note events each year I’ve been alive, remembering birthdays anniversaries weddings pets that have crossed the rainbow bridge, etc. Will buy the refill planner from Kokuyo here at YS. Fast processing no hidden damages in transit. Great value. Oh… love the paper too. I use highlighters, gel pens with no bleed through.
A few years back I’d ordered my first Japanese planner, Hobonichi. It took me a while to learn the layouts. I found that I was curious about the First Kit; all inclusive set (cover, 3 books) for a full year. I like the softly colored cover (salmon or peach) because it doesn’t hurt my eyes (I use my eyes a lot). I’m now a Jibun Techo fan. Nice company website. I appreciate a small family business like this company and will be returning for more stationary.
