This ink was inspired by the Mexican Hens plant. An opulent succulent which forms rosettes of blue-gray leaves with white to reddish wavy and crinkled margins, resembling a flower of rose or peony. The species is native to northeastern Mexico.

Ink Institute is a line of inks made by the Taiwanese stationery store, Juspirit in Taipei. They produce inks that are easy to clean and beautiful on paper. We love their ink collections which include a tribute to the Taipei Metro subway line, Exotic Plants and the super fun Cat Daily collection.
This is actually the first ink i've tried and after a week I can say i've really enjoyed it. It's an interesting color. It starts off as a more warm purple when it's first put down and then it dries to an almost grey/purple-blue color. I think giving the bottle a nice shake before filling your pen helps it be more of an even purple color. I keep this exclusively in my TWSBI Eco-T pen. Pretty.
This ink looks best in pure white paper than on cream papers like the Midori or Passepied cream papers. It starts off in a blue-pink-purple just like the Ink Institute Electric Blue Spider Lily, but changes into a blue-grey when dried. Not too dissimilar to another one of Ink Institute’s inks called “Cat at Dusk”, just that Mexican Hens is a lot less grey and lighter to the eye. The Chinese name for Mexican Hens is cute - “Dance of Gion /Qiyuan” - I learnt something new today.
