Lennon Tool Bar - 2021 Fall Limited - 葡萄 Grape. Lennon Tool Bar's 2021 Fall Limited ink is inspired by the rich color of plump juicy grapes. As with their previous seasonal limited ink releases, this special box set comes with a 35ml bottle of ink, 1 Chinese and 1 English booklet that tells that history of grape-growing in Taiwan, 3 postcards illustrated by Taiwanese artists and a QR code to an audio recording of interviews with Taiwanese people on the topic of grapes.

Although not a native crop to Taiwan, grapes were introduced and grown with success during the period of Japanese imperialism. This was not an easy feat as Taiwan's soil and climate were not ideal for grape-growing, but with the introduction of a special horizontal trellis system, delicious grapes were grown. Still, grapes were not a popular crop among Taiwanese farmers until a typhoon hit a grape-growing region and farmers found growth among broken grape vines and discovered that they could double their crop yield by pruning vines. Today, grapes in Taiwan are just one of the many fruits seen at markets and the industry has even expanded to wine-making vineyards in Taiwan's Erlin Township in Chunghua County.

This ink a deep luscious purple with a misty white shading quality. It is the perfect color to match the "bloom" (naturally occurring waxy/powdery white coating) seen on grape skins.

About Lennon Tool Bar:
Lennon Tool Bar was founded in 2014 at Tamsui, Taiwan. Initially, it started to promote arts and crafts of Indigo Dyeing, a business that flourished a century ago in Taiwan, and at the time, Taiwan exported a considerable amount of "doroai," or the raw material of colorants used in Indigo Dyeing, to the Japanese Empire. Lennon Tool Bar draws inspiration from the traditional process and the popular colors used in Indigo Dyeing.
