This weekly-edition Hobonichi Techo is a compact book that’s easy to carry everywhere. The book is slim and roughly the size of a long wallet, making it easy to fit into a bag or suit pocket. The main layout of the book consists of a weekly calendar on the left page and blank graph paper on the right page. Each weekly spread also contains the characteristic Hobonichi quote in English on the bottom of the page. Although slim at first glance, the book holds 71 graph-ruled memo pages for note-taking at the end of the book. The Weeks is available with a variety of different cover designs on the book itself and does not require an additional cover purchased separately.
White Line, Smooth, Sneaker, and Paper type cover designs are slightly bendable and mold nicely to the shape of a hand. Color, Leather, and Special Artist Collaboration type cover designs are made of stiff paperboard material and have less of a bend, making them easier to clip open and lay flat.
Taro Okamoto is the artist of the well-loved Museum of the Tower of the Sun in Japan. The Tower of the Sun monument was erected for the 1970 World’s Fair in Osaka and stands about 70 meters tall. It remains to this day as a powerful presence in the Osaka Expo Park and is one of Taro Okamoto’s most famous works. Okamoto’s tower is considered a significant cultural creation, and for this cover is broken into three segments of the three faces on the tower. The tower is regarded as a symbol of the energy of all things generated through the past, present, and future, and also the center of life.
