Continuing the collaborative line of the Techo cover lineup, this year introduces new artists and designs to make your planning special. As always, the covers feature a basic style with butterfly-stopper pen holders that act as a hinge, keeping your cover safely shut when you store a pen inside.

New this season, Small White Butterfly is an illustrated cover created in collaboration with the Tokyo National Museum, highlighting Edo-era lacquer painter Shibata Zenshin. The cover features a yellow to white to pale green gradient with two white butterflies on the front and special diamond-shaped bookmark charms.

Nicknamed Tohaku, the Tokyo National Museum collects, preserves, researches, exhibits, and educates the public about cultural artifacts from across Asia, with a focus on Japan. Currently there are about 120,000 objects in its collection, including the print chosen for this Hobonichi Techo cover, originally by Shibata Zeshin.

Shibata Zeshin (1807-1891) was born in Ryogoku, Edo, and was an active lacquer artist and painter from the late Edo period until the middle of the Meiji era. He had many lacquering techniques that he created himself, and created many magnificent lacquer wares and paintings. The print on this cover features one of the most beautiful selections from his Tairyukyo Gafu. It’s called “Small White Butterfly” and it has an exceptionally beautiful background color and a skillful composition.

High-quality polyester construction gives this cover its sturdy feel and subtle shine — it’s durable enough to last a long time but light enough to carry with you everywhere.

Add a clear Hobonichi Cover on Cover to protect this cover from wear and tear and add extra space for storing photos, stickers, and postcards.

This original form of the Hobonichi Techo has been loved by many users since its introduction in 2002. Its daily pages offer plenty of space to fill despite the book’s compact A6 size. The graph paper offers an open layout for you to neatly lay out writings, clippings, and drawings.

The graph paper in the English version is slightly enlarged to 4 mm to allow users to write comfortably in any language. Timelines are simplified to a single 12 to denote noon so users can completely customize it to their own schedule (or ignore it completely), and each day is also labeled with the number of the consecutive week that year, from 1 to 52.

The Hobonichi Techo includes quotes specially chosen from its parent site, the Japanese web magazine Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun. Each daily page has a quote in English.

The book contains several sections that are great for schedule management, such as a yearly calendar, monthly calendar, and yearly index page. The back of the book includes useful and informational pages, such as blank memo pages, an address book, a page for drawing out a custom graph, a list of useful links in Japanese, and more.
