This is a classy leather cover in a metallic, tri-fold design. Unlike the classic covers, this tri-fold cover wraps around the book and closes with snap buttons. It uses high-quality Italian leather with a unique texture that shines when it catches the light. The right inner side holds the pen loop and the pocket features an embossed Hobonichi logo.

The leather is from the major Italian tanner Mastrotto, which was founded in 1958. The raw leather originates from Italy and southern Europe. It’s carefully curated from only the highest quality selections in order to be able to make the surface as smooth and soft as possible. After applying a special foil, an advanced processing technique called graining attaches the foil to the leather and gives it a smooth, unique touch.

This original form of the Hobonichi Techo has been loved by many users since its introduction in 2002. Its daily pages offer plenty of space to fill despite the book’s compact A6 size. The graph paper offers an open layout for you to neatly lay out writings, clippings, and drawings.

The graph paper in the English version is slightly enlarged to 4 mm to allow users to write comfortably in any language. Timelines are simplified to a single 12 to denote noon so users can completely customize it to their own schedule (or ignore it completely), and each day is also labeled with the number of the consecutive week that year, from 1 to 52.

The Hobonichi Techo includes quotes specially chosen from its parent site, the Japanese web magazine Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shinbun. Each daily page has a quote in English.

The book contains several sections that are great for schedule management, such as a yearly calendar, monthly calendar, and yearly index page. The back of the book includes useful and informational pages, such as blank memo pages, an address book, a page for drawing out a custom graph, a list of useful links in Japanese, and more.
