Continuing the collaborative line of the Techo Cousin lineup, this year introduces new artists and designs to make your planning special. As always, the covers feature a basic style with butterfly-stopper pen holders that act as a hinge, keeping your cover safely shut when you store a pen inside.
New this season, Hedekmäpuu was created by Finnish artist Eri Shimatsuka to highlight the life force of trees. Her designs evoke the warm, gentle view toward nature that comes from spending everyday life amid Finland’s lush greenery. Hedelmäpuu is Finnish for “fruit tree,” and a fruit tree filled with fruits and nuts is the centerpiece of this design. The front cover graphically illustrates different fruits made to pop with the use of bright mint green, lavender purple, and peach along with dark green leaves surrounding a tree trunk and branches, all of which are accented with black line-work. The back features a more minimal display of the fruits and leaves and the bookmarks contain round green and pink charms reminiscent of tree nuts.
In 2023, for the first time, the Hobonichi Cousin is offered in English! Some ways the English Version differs from the Japanese Version are: English quotes at the bottom of each page, English months, and a new section in the back for "Words to Remember". On this page you will be able to write down phrases and words you encountered throughout the year that you don’t want to forget. Use the colored area to write down dates or for citations.
The one-day-per-page A5-size Techo was created in response to customer requests for more space to fill with writing and clippings and is designed to be paired with the A5 cover of your choice. The Cousin is perfect for collecting a great deal of information into a single book, using as a school notebook, parenting diary, or simply writing in larger letters. The larger size means this book is ideal for leaving in a single place at work or at home. The Cousin also has an exclusive section: the popular “Weekly Pages” tracks a week in each two-page spread for easy planning.
After years of testing, the graph paper has been set to 3.7 mm for optimal writing comfort. The graph paper design allows users to write from any starting point on the page, and the lines have been printed in light colors so users can either customize it to their own layout or ignore it completely.
The book contains several sections that are great for schedule management, such as a yearly calendar, monthly calendar, weekly calendar spreads, and yearly index page. The back of the book includes useful and informational pages, such as blank memo pages, an address book, a page for drawing out a custom graph, a list of useful links, and more.
